Fixes and Enhancements
The following changes have been made to the A07 BIOS to create A08:
1. ESCD is cleared when asset tag PASS:xx/xx changes.
2. Added ability to turn the USB controller on and off in setup.
3. Updated selectable boot capability. When a device is removed its place in the boot list is saved in case it is ever readded.
4. Updated some CPU microcodes.
5. Added BBS calling interface to SMBIOS.
6. During NVRAM updates the reset and power buttons are now disabled.
7. Added support for 48-bit LBA disk drives.
8. System now beeps when CTRL-ALT-F10, or F12 is pressed
9. Fixed a few potential Plug & Play configuration errors.
10. Added a fix to allow certain cards (PERC/3) to work properly.
11. IRQ 12 is now reserved.
Installation Instructions
Executable files that begin with B (i.e. BWS99988.exe) are ‘Packaged’ self-extracting archives that will create a bootable diskette when run under Windows. Before executing this file, please be sure that you have a blank diskette.
Usage:
-Download the file to your local hard drive. -Run the file. (double-click on the file to extract the utility to the diskette.) -Follow the onscreen instructions to create a FlashBIOS diskette. -Shut down your computer and restart with the FlashBIOS diskette created above in diskette drive A:. -Follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade your BIOS. -When your system restarts, remove the diskette. -The FlashBIOS upgrade is complete. Executable files that do NOT begin with B (i.e. WS999A88.exe) are ‘non-packaged’ FlashBIOS programs that require being run under DOS.
Usage:
-Download the file to a bootable DOS-diskette. -Shut down your computer and restart with the bootable DOS-diskette in diskette drive A:. -Once the system has booted to that diskette, run the FLASHBIOS program (i.e. WS999A88), and follow the onscreen instructions to upgrade your BIOS. -When your system restarts, remove the diskette. -The FlashBIOS upgrade is complete.
