Battery Recall Program

Battery Recall Program

SAFE-HANDLING CAUTIONS

  • Once removed from the computer, give the battery time to cool prior to transport by storing it in a cool, dry place away from combustible materials.
  • Do not place the battery in or near fires or other sources of high temperature. Do not place the battery in direct sunshine or store the battery inside a vehicle during hot weather. Doing so may cause the battery to generate heat, explode, or ignite.
  • Do not put the battery into a notebook computer.
  • In the event a battery starts smoking or burning, Dell recommends using:
    • CO2- or dry chemical B-, C- or BC-type fire extinguisher for individual batteries
    • LITH-X (graphite-based) or D-type fire extinguisher for bulk quantities of batteries. In this case, do not use water.
  • Store and transport each battery separately in packaging provided by Dell.
  • Do not drop the battery.
  • Do not pierce the battery or subject it to strong impacts or shocks.
  • Do not dispose of the battery in the trash or otherwise discard.
  • Do not carry, store, or transport the battery with necklaces, paperclips, or other metal objects that could potentially connect the battery terminals together.
  • Do not disassemble or otherwise attempt to modify the battery.
